Dynamically assisted tunneling in the impulse regime

چکیده

We study the enhancement of tunneling through a potential barrier $V(x)$ by time-dependent electric field with special emphasis on pulse-shaped vector potentials such as $A_x(t)=A_0/\cosh^2(\omega t)$. In addition to known effects pre-acceleration and deformation already present in adiabatic regime, well energy mixing analogy Franz-Keldysh effect non-adiabatic (impulse) pulse $A_x(t)$ can enhance ``pushing'' part wave-function out rear end barrier. Besides natural applications condensed matter atomic physics, these findings could be relevant for nuclear fusion, where pulses $\omega=1~\rm keV$ peak strengths $10^{16}~\rm V/m$ might rates significantly.

Tunneling spectroscopy in the hopping regime

Charge transport across tunneling junctions of n-doped Ge has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. Using tunneling spectroscopy we were able to observe the density of states and the effect of the electron-electron interaction on the excitation spectrum of samples, in which hopping is the transport mechanism close to equilibrium. To analyze the data of the measurements we derive a...

Thermally Assisted Quantum Vortex Tunneling in the Hall and Dissipative Regime

Quantum vortex tunneling is studied for the case where the Hall and the dissipative dynamics are simultaneously present. For a given temperature, the magnetization relaxation rate is calculated as a function of the external current and the quasiparticle scattering time. The relaxation rate is solved analytically at zero temperature and obtained numerically at finite temperatures by the variatio...

Tunneling transition to the Pomeron regime 1

We point out that, in some models of small-x hard processes, the transition to the Pomeron regime occurs through a sudden tunneling effect, rather than a slow diffusion process. We explain the basis for such a feature and we illustrate it for the BFKL equation with running coupling by gluon rapidity versus scale correlation plots. Tunneling in the Electron Box in the Nonperturbative Regime

We study charging effects and tunneling in the single electron box. Tunneling mixes different charge states and in the nonperturbative regime the charge in the island may be strongly screened. When charge states are nearly degenerate the screening of the charge is strong even in the weak tunneling regime. Virtual tunneling processes reduce both the level splitting ∆ and the tunneling strength α...

Impurity-assisted tunneling in graphene

The electric conductance of a strip of undoped graphene increases in the presence of a disorder potential, which is smooth on atomic scales. The phenomenon is attributed to impurityassisted resonant tunneling of massless Dirac fermions. Employing the transfer matrix approach we demonstrate the resonant character of the conductivity enhancement in the presence of a single impurity. We also calcu...
